Random is the default - but not the only option
The core idea behind Chatus is fully random matching: you search, and you're connected with whoever's available and ready to chat. That randomness is part of the appeal for a lot of people. But sometimes you have a clearer idea of who you'd rather talk to, and that's exactly what gender search is built for.
How gender search actually works
Instead of being matched with anyone online, gender search narrows the pool to a specific preference - Chat with Girls or Chat with Guys - while keeping everything else about Chatus the same: still anonymous, still no registration, still just a conversation with someone new. It's a filter, not a different platform.
This feature is part of Chatus Premium, which makes sense given how it works - narrowing the matching pool takes more from the system than fully random matching does, so it's built as an upgrade rather than the default.
When it actually makes a difference
Gender search tends to matter most in a few specific situations:
- You're specifically looking for flirt chat and want a matching pool that fits what you're after.
- You've noticed a pattern in the conversations you enjoy most and want to lean into that instead of leaving it to chance.
- You just want more predictability in who you're about to talk to, without giving up anonymity to get it.
For everyone else, fully random matching still works exactly the way it always has - gender search is additive, not a requirement to use Chatus well.
It doesn't change the anonymity
One thing worth being clear about: gender search only affects who you're matched with, not what they can see about you. You're still anonymous by default, your Telegram profile still isn't shared, and the same chat rules and reporting system apply regardless of which matching mode you're using.
Worth trying if you already know what you're looking for
If you've been using fully random chat and keep wishing you had more say in who you talk to, gender search is a small change that can make a real difference in how often conversations land the way you want them to.
